Microsoft may offer a multi-license “family pack” for Windows 7, according to a post by blogger Kristan Kenney on ZDNet earlier this week, the end user licence agreement (EULA) included with the recently leaked version of Windows 7 Home Premium under a section titled “Installation And Use Rights,” the EULA states: “If you are a ‘Qualified Family Pack User’, you may install one copy of the software marked as ‘Family Pack’ on three computers in your household for use by people who reside there. Those computers are the ‘licensed computers’ and are subject to these license terms. If you do not know whether you are a Qualifised [sic] Family Pack User, visit: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Linkid=141399 or contact the Microsoft affiliate serving your country.”

It has emerged that a Microsoft scheme offering free upgrades to people buying Vista machines this summer has a maximum limit of 25 machines for businesses, although Microsoft had not stated any limits applied, similar schemes for previous editions of Windows, the deal has been limited to five copies of Windows per customer

On Monday, Cisco announced a new certification, the Cisco Certified Architect, which will sit above the much coveted Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and the Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE). Besides knowing and understanding the architectural design of networks, the Cisco Certified Architect will also understand how to map business requirements to the architectural design and be able to communicate that to others in the organization.

According Tony Liao, associate vice president of worldwide marketing at Gigabyte Technology small to medium sized businesses may be considering upgrading their computer hardware or replacing older computers with new ones during the fourth quarter of this year to meet the demand for Windows 7 scheduled for release in October
Gigabyte is one of the world’s largest PC motherboard makers and produces a range of products, including laptops and desktops, based on Intel processors and chipsets.

Netbooks also known as “ultra-low-cost PCs (ULPCs)” appear to be growing in popularity, these are a new class of low-end laptops primarily designed for web browsing and e-mailing, Microsoft has designed Windows 7 the successor to Windows Vista for this market
In an effort to increase the number of netbooks on which Windows 7 can be installed and increase market sales of the new operating system (OS), CNET is reporting that Microsoft is considering offering its brand new OS on a USB thumb drive!, until now, Windows has only ever been released on CD, DVD, or via download, which is great but most Netbooks have no optical drives to maintain their low cost and with low end processing power downloads can take forever

Microsoft introduced their limited time Windows 7 offer on pre-orders of Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional last Friday in the US, Canada and Japan with discounts of up to 50%
The upgrade for Windows 7 Home Premium, priced at $49.99 USD, immediately stormed to the top of Amazons .com website bestseller list. The $99.99 USD Windows 7 Professional Upgrade held the No. 2 spot in software.
