Intel earlier this week unveiled its new Xeon 5500 series product, a new chip line designed for server systems that is said to double computing performance when compared with existing models.

Previously codenamed Nehalem-EP, the 5500 series feature several technologies that radically improve system speed and versatility, including Intel Turbo Boost Technology, Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, integrated power gates, and Intel Virtualization Technology (VT).
