The Microsoft Small Business Server blog recently announced that Windows Small Business Server 2008 (Standard and Premium editions) have been released to manufacturing (RTM), and should be widely available by Microsoft’s 12 November planned Windows Essential Server Solutions launch.

Microsoft has updated its Windows XP Professional antipiracy tools. Alex Kochis, senior product manager for Microsoft’s Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) antipiracy program, said in a recent blog post that the changes to the WGA Notifications software will bring XP Professional in line with Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

In a recent post to the IE blog, Jane Maliouta, a Microsoft program manager, warned users who downloaded and installed Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) Beta 1 prior to updating Windows XP to Service Pack 3 (SP3) that they won’t be able to uninstall either the service pack or Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) if they decide to upgrade IE8 to Beta 2. However, further upgrades of IE8 will still be available to them.
